Production trade off

In economics, the term trade-off is often expressed as opportunity cost. A trade-off involves a sacrifice that must be made to obtain a desired product or experience. Understanding the trade-off for every decision you make helps ensure that you are using your resources (whether it's time, money or energy) wisely. That's a trade-off. Trade-offs create opportunity costs, one of the most important concepts in economics. Whenever you make a trade-off, the thing that you do not choose is your opportunity cost. To butcher the poet Robert Frost, opportunity cost is the path not taken (and that makes all the difference). While fast time-to-market, low product cost and high-quality technical specification are all key factors when launching new products, the process of making design decisions usually involves a trade-off between software and hardware. Electronics is an art.

The improvement to standard DEA models is accomplished through incorporation of additional information, in the form of technologically realistic trade offs. In  14 Aug 2014 To gain toughness, the grades trade off some heat resistance and high speed capability. However, past studies focused  The PPF (Production Possibility Frontier) models the trade-offs and opportunity costs that necessarily accompany decision-making in the face of scarcity. Mythconceptions: Scarcity is more of a problem for the poor. People face scarcity; governments do not. Producers make choices differently than consumers. 3. Gains from trade, based on specialization and comparative advantage Since Rachel is the lower-cost meat producer, it makes sense for her to specialize in meat production and trade her meat for Fred’s potatoes. Since Fred is the lower-cost otato ~, it makes sense for him to specialize in potato production and trade his potatoes for Rachel’s meat. A trade-off (or tradeoff) is a situational decision that involves diminishing or losing one quality, quantity or property of a set or design in return for gains in other aspects. In simple terms, a tradeoff is where one thing increases and another must decrease.

The PPF simply shows the trade-offs in production volume between two choices. All choices along the curve shows production efficiency of both goods.  Production points inside the curve show an economy is not producing at its comparative advantage.

Electronics is an art. Manufacturing trade-offs are dynamic, and can be repositioned or enhanced through managerial action. Trade-off improvement involves the two approaches of repositioning and enhancement. Repositioning concerns changes in manufacturing priorities—raising one priority at the expense of another, mainly to align operations to a new competitive strategy. The concept of the “trade‐off” is increasingly seen as central to operations strategy because it forms the foundation of how we conceptualise the improvement process. A case‐based methodology is employed to explore managers’ cognition regarding the idea of operations trade‐offs. Findings from the five case studies examined indicate that the idea of trade‐offs is not the
